Faculty Development for Outpatient Clinical Educators

Event Description

Sponsored and supported by Duke Primary Care and the Duke University School of Medicine's Department of Community and Family Medicine, the conference will cover the following topics.

  • What to teach: Making the most of time when students are on time-limited rotations
  • The electronic health record and communication skills: Teaching, using the computer, and helping students practicenote writing
  • Problems in the outpatient clinic:Anticipating issues, problem solving, and getting help if you have a challenging learner
  • Physical examinations: Teaching best practices and skills for conducting physical exams

In addition, there will be a 90-minute practicum in which faculty and student actors role play how to handle challenging, real-life scenarios.

Breakfast and lunch will be served. Attendees will enjoy free parking and can receive continuing medical education (CME) credit for the conference.

Duke faculty can register and attend at no charge; however, advance registration is required due to limited space.
